Cancellation guide
How to cancel O2
A clear, step-by-step guide to cancelling your O2 mobile, plus the things worth checking before you leave.
Before you cancel
- You may be in a minimum contract, so leaving early can trigger an early-exit charge. Ask for the exact figure before you agree to anything.
- Expect to be offered a retention discount or loyalty deal to make you stay. If you're sure you want to cancel, stand your ground.
- There may be a notice period, so you can be billed for a short while after you ask to leave. Cancel as early as you can.
- Cancel from the account you actually pay with, and make sure you're the billing owner before you start.
- Always get your cancellation confirmed in writing and keep it.
How to cancel O2, step by step
- Decide if you're keeping your number: PAC to keep it, STAC to leave it behind. Text PAC to 65075, or STAC to 75075, for a code within 60 seconds (or request it in My O2 under Manage details, or by phone/in store).
- Give the code to your new network, with a PAC/STAC there's no 30 days' notice and you're billed only up to the date the code is used.
- If you're not switching networks, give 30 days' notice by signing in to My O2 or by calling 202 (Pay Monthly) or 4445 (Pay As You Go); you pay for that 30-day notice period.
- Check your minimum term first, early-termination charges apply if you're still in it.
- Your final bill arrives about 14 days after disconnection; you can cancel the Direct Debit after it's paid.
