Cancellation guide

How to cancel Norton

A clear, step-by-step guide to cancelling your Norton Software, plus the things worth checking before you leave.

Before you cancel

  • There's no fixed contract, so you can cancel anytime. Your access simply runs to the end of the period you've paid for.
  • Expect to be offered a retention discount or loyalty deal to make you stay. If you're sure you want to cancel, stand your ground.
  • There may be a notice period, so you can be billed for a short while after you ask to leave. Cancel as early as you can.
  • If you subscribed through Apple, Google or another provider, you must cancel with them, not Norton directly.
  • Get a confirmation (on-screen or by email) and keep it as proof of the date you cancelled.

How to cancel Norton, step by step

  1. Sign in at my.norton.com and click 'My Account'.
  2. Select 'My Subscriptions' from the dropdown.
  3. Click 'Cancel Subscription Renewal' (or 'Manage Renewal'), then next to Plan Renewal click 'Unsubscribe'.
  4. Pick a reason, click Next, decline the retention offer, then confirm 'No thanks, cancel my subscription'.
  5. The change takes a few hours (up to 24 hours to show in your account); your subscription runs to the end of the paid term, then won't renew.
  6. For a refund, contact Member Services within the money-back window (have your order number, serial number, or product key ready).
